Nowadays there is hype around disrupting the educational system and create a new one that will more effectively accommodate the need of the workforce and the marketplace in 2017.
Gary Vaynerchuk, the famous entrepreneur very often talks about how the educational system failing entrepreneurs every day, simply because it is not designed for entrepreneurs.
Therefore, I thought to myself that we need to redefine what is education and who is an educated man. It seems that we still hold this old belief that when someone has a college degree, masters or a Ph.D. degree is considered educated. Is that actually true?
What if a respected lawyer has all the qualifications in his field of expertise but has no compassion for elderly people, is he still educated?
I would argue, no – education is not only an intellectual game. It is also emotional and spiritual.
The best definition of an educated man I found in the book ‘Think and grow rich’ (1937) by Napoleon Hill.
Napoleon Hill was an American Author that he devoted 24 years of his life at studying successful people and their formula for success. This initiative was funded by Andrew Carnegie one of the most powerful industrialists and philanthropists of the last century.
Here is his definition:
“An educated man is not, necessarily, one who has an abundance of general or specialized knowledge. An educated man is one who has so developed the faculties of his mind that he may acquire ANYTHING he wants, or its equivalent, without violating the rights of others”- Napoleon Hill
Now the key is the mind faculties, which might be a new concept for some of you but vital to your development, so I highly recommend you study and understand them. The human mind consists of 6 mind faculties: memory, imagination, intuition, will, reason, perception.
Let me know if you want me to talk in more details about the mind faculties in one of my next videos or any other topics you are interested in.
